Job Purpose & Scope

  • Ensure effective profit margin, volume management; reduce debtors’ days and implementation of sales strategies to ensure growth opportunities are achieved.
  • To achieve sales targets at the best possible margins whilst at the same time not exposing the organisation to risk of bad debts.

Key Responsibilities

  • A large portion of the incumbent’s time is taken up in direct dealings with customers. The incumbent handles customer negotiations and generates official quotations himself/herself.
  • The quotations involve the accurate costing of all associated cost and transport charges and the inclusion of the margin assigned. This figure will vary depending upon existing pricing agreements, the state of the business or competition activity.
  • The objective always being to secure the order at the best possible margins.
  • Administrative, budgeting and reporting functions associated with the position occupy approximately 30% of the incumbent’s time and represents an important part of the incumbent’s contribution.
  • Accurate documentation means that management has a clear picture of what the situation is at any one time and can react accordingly.
  • The incumbent is responsible for achieving set targets and accordingly monitors progress against the goals and objectives set out.
  • The incumbent maintains personal contact with customer and spends allocates time for customer visits. In so doing he ensures that customers are satisfied with our product and service and seeks feedback for areas of improvement.
  • Increasing sales needs to be done in tandem with minimizing the risk of bad debts.
  • Work with other departments to ensure alignment with the companies direction and that customer expectations are met.

Requirements

  • A person with a formal qualification in a building related discipline
  • 5 years working experience in the Sales/Marketing field
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to act with honesty, integrity and personal ethics
  • Take responsibility and demonstrate resiliency and accountability
